Ownd is non-profit and successfully profitable, because all products are sold for a lot more than they cost to produce and ship. It is literally an upside-down business model.
Therefore the benefits if ownership are deciding the future of the company, democratically. Primarily this is deciding where to give the profits, and the design of future products.
Fundamentals:
- Eco everything – we will be the best in class, from choice of materials, to fair labour, to shipping and packaging
- Anti-fashion – you will still want to wear your item 10 years from now
- Expensive – this is a buy clothing x give to charity combo
- Outsourced manufacture- relying on 3rd parties with the same mindset to produce and ship the clothing. Our only roles are publicity, design and distribution of profits
- Zero paid staff – volunteers run the back-end, designers provide their ideas for free in exchange for exposure
- Zero costs – everything is volunteered or donated.
- Savage – the ultimate aim is to destroy fashion, because it has become wasteful, ugly and mindless
